On Sunday, June 22nd, the InteRDom 2008 Summer interns went to see the production, “El Prestamista,” at Teatro Las Máscaras in the Colonial Zone. All in attendance were charmed by the quaintness of the theater and the professionalism of the actors. After the performance, the group spent time walking through the Colonial Zone to Plaza España. For many of the interns, it was their first time experiencing the Colonial Zone at night, and they were captivated by the architecture and the parks located throughout the Zone. The group arrived at the Plaza via the oldest street in the Colonial Zone, Calle Las Damas, and paused at the city wall to look out over the Ozama River.
InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), organizes excursions to expose interns, to a greater extent, to the culture and ecology of the Dominican Republic.
The Program offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study.
It fosters and promotes the professional, academic, scientific, technological and cultural exchange of students and professionals in public, private and non-profit organizations of the Dominican Republic. InteRDom significantly contributes to the development of the nation’s employment sector and the advancement of academic research, while providing spaces for personal and professional growth, internationalization and multicultural understanding.
