Staying up-to-date on current study abroad trends and practices is vital for the evolution of all international education programs. In order to discuss new innovations and demands in the field of education abroad, and to form new relationships with study abroad professionals from different universities, representatives from InteRDom Internships in the Dominican Republic will attend the 2013 CIEE Annual Conference from November 20-23 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The conference is hosted by an important leader in the study abroad industry, the Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE), and this will be the second time InteRDom has participated in this enriching event.
This year’s conference themes are: “Align. Innovate. Educate,” which CIEE explains, saying: “Together we must: Align resources to create best practices for integrating international component into existing and new curricula; Innovate our approach to programming to meet the needs of today’s students and faculty; and Educate students and institutions by embedding the expectation of study abroad into students’ educational plans from the beginning of their college careers.” These are very important topics to InteRDom, as it continues to develop and adapt to new ideas and trends which will shape the program to become more accessible and attractive to the new generation of college students.
Through this conference, InteRDom representatives will have the opportunity to network with other study abroad professionals, both in-country leaders and university program faculty and staff, to explore partnerships with other institutions and providers, and to build relationships and collaborate on new ideas.
InteRDom representatives will also attend presentations, panel discussions and learning sessions on a range of topics from engaging alumni after their program completion to program branding and cultivating the pre-departure experience. All of these tools will be valuable to continue to innovate in order to provide the highest quality experience possible to future students.
The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and FUNGLODE is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
