The Internship Program, InteRDom, is adding the Dominican Republic Sugar Industry Consortium to its internship offering for this year. Positions will be available to students of engineering, agriculture and chemistry.
To finalize the details of the internship opportunities, representatives of InteRDom met recently with executives of CAEI, one of the most important business conglomerates in the Dominican Republic, specializing in the cultivation and processing of sugarcane to produce refined sugar, cream and molasses.
CAEI has also recently begun cultivating pineapples and mangos for European and US markets. Additionally, the Livestock Division of the Consortium breeds brahman and simmental cattle stock for high-quality meat. It owns over 13,000 head of cattle.
CAEI — a project recognized internationally for its firm commitment to the development of the Dominican Republic and the region – also directly impacts different communities in the southern zone of the country through a reforestation program in the Rio Nizao basin adjacent to the agro-industry’s productive lands.
CAEI is a very attractive project for universities affiliated with the InteRDom Program and for students interested in learning about industrial processes, quality control and new technology management.
InteRDom, established in 2005 by Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), has become the leading internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study.
