In order to reach a broader audience and better suite the needs of its user community, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) are launching an InteRDom website in Spanish and English.

Established in 2005 by GFDD and FUNGLODE, InteRDom has gradually become the leading internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations related to their field of study, and provides academics, professionals and graduate students a platform for exchange and collaboration, thus promoting investigation and development in the Dominican Republic.

The program consists of 60% professional experience with a private, public or non-governmental organization and 40% academic study at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE). InteRDom interns also have the opportunity to enroll in an intensive Spanish language course and have the option to obtain the DELE (Diploma of Spanish Language).

InteRDom interns experience complete cultural immersion. Via extensive excursions and social activities, students interact with key societal actors, integrate themselves in local culture and experience the nation’s natural beauty and vast artistic wealth.

InteRDom strives to actively contribute to the modernization of the Dominican labor sector by working closely with the human resource departments of collaborating institutions and the Dominican Association for Human Resource Administrators (ADOARH). By constantly enhancing and expanding its internship programs, InteRDom contributes to national development and increases the country’s economic competitiveness.

With the website’s user friendly features, becoming involved in the Dominican Republic’s top-ranking internship and academic program is now easier than ever. InterDom’s bilingual site features updated news articles, listings of new internship position openings with Dominican organizations, as well as intern testimonials. Moreover, the detailed and comprehensive webpage provides users easy online access to program registration. Future projects include the creation of chat rooms and blogs that will allow for discussion between previous and future interns, as well as among the academic and professional community created through InteRDom collaboration.

Portal development was directed by GFDD Executive Director and FUNGLODE Vice President, Natasha Despotovic, and implemented by ICT Manager, Semiramis de Miranda, InteRDom Coordinator, Alicia Alonzo, Publications Coordinator, Miryam López, and Web Designer, Daniel Laender.
