InteRDom Supports the 4th National Dominican Student Conference

For the fourth consecutive year, InteRDom is lending a hand to the student organizers of the National Dominican Student Conference, and will participate in the event to be held on April 23-25, 2010 at Cornell University.

InteRDom is helping the team of students from the group Quisqueya at Cornell University in the advertisement and promotion of the conference, as well as in identifying Dominican professionals to participate in the panel discussions and workshops.

This year’s event will operate under the theme “Helping Rising Professionals Reconnect to the Dominican Republic,” and will feature a series of workshops centered on connecting students with their culture and identifying opportunities for students to give back to and utilize the country’s resources to advance professionally.  The conference will also offer networking opportunities for students to form professional connections.

InteRDom, the official internship program sponsoring the event, believes strongly in this year’s theme and the role of internships in accomplishing its motive.  Performing an internship in the Dominican Republic through InteRDom is a perfect opportunity to students to enhance their resumes, give back to the community and learn more about daily life in the Dominican Republic.

InteRDom will be greeting students with a stand at the welcoming reception on Friday evening.  The team will be available at that time to meet students, distribute brochures and to tell students how InteRDom can help serve as a bridge between their current studies and future career aspirations.

Program representatives will also be available on Saturday morning to discuss internship opportunities, and a representative from InteRDom’s sponsoring institution, Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD), will be a presenter in the workshop “Moving Mountains.”  To view the agenda for the conference, click here.

The annual Dominican Student Conference attracts students from the Dominican diaspora from across the United States.  This year, organizers expect for more than 300 students to be in attendance.
