Representatives of Rutgers University and the University of Puerto Rico Visit the Juan Bosch Library and the InteRDom Program

The institutional presentation coordinated by Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) for Rutgers University and the University of Puerto Rico turned into an interesting question and answer session among 15 students and representatives of the InteRDom program on Wednesday, March 16. The meeting took place at FUNGLODE´s central office in Santo Domingo.

The purpose of the two universities´ visit was to bring together students, non-profit organizations and academic institutions and communities to discuss topics such as immigration, borders and gender.  The meeting provided an opportunity for students to become familiar with the facilities of the Juan Bosch Library with it extensive collection of books and special section on Caribbean studies.

The students were accompanied by three professors and coordinators:
Sandra Rocío Castro, Associate Director of the Latin Art and Culture Center of  Rutgers University; Professor Carlos Decena and Professor Karin Weyland also of Rutgers. Also present was Professor Madeline Gutiérrez of the Sociology and Anthropology Department of the University of Puerto Rico´s Rio Piedras Campus.

The students who attended the meeting were received by representatives of the Juan Bosch Library, as well as Sarah Romero, Corporate Relations Coordinator of InteRDom Internships, who shared details about the program with the students.

The InteRDom Internship Program of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and its sister organization in the Dominican Republic the Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) will continue to generate relationships with students and professors interested in undertaking internships as well as research endeavors in the region.
