The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), officially welcomed the interns participating in the 2008 Summer Program with a party at the restaurant, El Conuco. The 15 students, representing eight universities, were immersed in popular Dominican culture during their first week in the country at this restaurant, where they dined, danced and took in the ambiance offered by this local, one of the most famous in the Dominican Republic.
InteRDom is the premier internship and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations related to their field of study, and take courses and seminars at local universities.
