During the previous weekend, the InteRDom Program organized a trip to the Samaná Penninsula for an overnight stay in Las Galeras, renown worldwide for its exquisite virgin landscapes. Travelling along the newly constructed Samaná highway, the group had the opportunity to view a cross section of the nation’s countryside. Upon arriving at the hotel Villa Serena, students swam, explored the beach, rode bikes along trails that paralleled the coastline and relaxed while enjoying the scenic grounds of the hotel. The next morning, the group boarded a speed-boat destined for Play Rincón, considered by many to be among the top ten beaches in the world.
The tranquility of the resort and the pristine natural beauty characteristic of the region provided the ideal backdrop for students to relax and better get to know one another.
InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), organizes excursions to expose interns, to a greater extent, to the culture and ecology of the Dominican Republic.
The Program offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study.
It fosters and promotes the professional, academic, scientific, technological and cultural exchange of students and professionals in public, private and non-profit organizations of the Dominican Republic. InteRDom significantly contributes to the development of the nation’s employment sector and the advancement of academic research, while providing spaces for personal and professional growth, internationalization and multicultural understanding.
