InteRDom Meets Top International Students in Boston

After a week of meetings and fairs in Washington D.C., the InteRDom team travelled to Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, February 13th to participate in the Summer Opportunities and Career Fair of the Harvard National Model United Nations conference.

The Harvard National Model United Nations Conference, which was in its fifty-fifth session this year, is a conference spanning four full days where students representing different countries are presented with current global problems to debate and for which to devise resolutions.

This year 2,600 delegates attended the conference; half were from the United States, and the other half represented every continent except for Antarctica.  This was the first year that the HNMUN offered a Summer Opportunities and Career Fair as part of the conference.

“The idea is that we have 2600 students who are all interested in international affairs and travelling abroad,” Under-Secretary General for Business Sanjay Gandhi said.  “They’re very globally-minded students, so it would be a great way for us to give them the opportunity to see what’s out there.”

InteRDom’s stand at the fair attracted a lot of attention from students interested in Latin American and Caribbean issues, and team members received résumés and talked with students about the internships involving many of the hot global topics that they came to the conference to debate available to them for the Summer and Fall of 2009 sessions.

InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study.
