Orientation activities concluded for the 2009 InteRDom summer interns on Monday, June 15 with the annual Business Day event. Business Day brings together all of the interns and the organizations and companies for which they work in order to define the remaining details of their internship agreements, sign internship contracts, and present their projects to the rest of the interns and organizations.
The Business Day gives both the interns and the organizations an excellent opportunity to establish professional networks and learn about new projects that other organizations are implementing in the country. It also serves as an important bridge for the students to get to know their employers before the official start date of their internships.
The organizations and businesses that participated in the event were: Pan American Development Foundation (Organization of American States- OAS/PADF), Asociación Dominicana de las Naciones Unidas (ANU-RD), Acción para la Educación Básica (EDUCA), Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE) and Banco Nacional de Fomento de la Vivienda y la Producción (BNV).
InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study.
The Program fosters and promotes the professional, academic, scientific, technological and cultural exchange of students and professionals in public, private and non-profit organizations of the Dominican Republic. It significantly contributes to the development of the nation’s employment sector and the advancement of academic research, while providing spaces for personal and professional growth, internationalization and multicultural understanding.
