Approximately 200 students presented project proposals for InteRDom’s 2008 summer program, during the Opportunity Knocks Career and Information Fair, an event organized by George Washington University, in which InteRDom and 100 other organizations participated.
During the event that took place last Wednesday at the university, students were able to learn about the internships available with InteRDom for this coming summer, as well as the Dominican organizations affiliated with the program.
In addition to receiving resumes and project proposals from over 200 George Washington University students, the Dominican program also established contact with organizations present at the fair, interested in getting to know InteRDom participating students, and considering them for employment opportunities and projects related to the Caribbean.
InteRDom is part of the Elliot School Career Connection (ESCC), an online resource for graduate students, alumni, professors and university employees. The online program allows students to register, obtain information about work experiences, download resumes and cover letters, search for jobs and internships, and gain valuable tips on mastering interviews.
InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) andFundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), offers students the opportunity to gain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their field of study, and taking courses and seminars at local universities. The program significantly contributes to the development of the nation’s employment sector and the advancement of academic research.
