InteRDom representatives strengthened connections with students at Drexel University during the special screening of the film Ballplayer: Pelotero on Friday, April 11, 2014, hosted by the Drexel University Spanish Club in collaboration with InteRDom. This event was organized to promote internship opportunities available through InteRDom, and to encourage students to apply for InteRDom’s summer programs by the April 18 deadline.
The event attracted Drexel students interested in Latino culture and Spanish language, as well as individuals interested in the film’s theme of baseball. In a short presentation before the film, InteRDom highlighted a special internship they offer through Major League Baseball (MLB) to go along with the theme of the film. The students were excited to learn about the InteRDom program and the opportunities available to them in the Dominican Republic, and many signed up to receive more information about how to apply.
InteRDom would like to thank Heather Conway and other members of Drexel’s Spanish Club, for helping to organize and co-hosting this event. Plans are already underway to bring InteRDom back to Drexel in the Fall for another event in collaboration with the Drexel Spanish Club.
InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
