The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), announces various internship openings with a beekeeping project in the northern region of the Dominican Republic.
This program, created by the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF/OAS) and the Dirección General de Desarrollo Fronterizo (DGDF – General Management of Frontier Development), seeks to organize producers in order to facilitate financing the production of honey and honey derived products. The goal of the initiative is to ultimately market and sell products internationally.
Internship opportunities are directed towards students in the fields of industrial engineering, marketing, international business and related studies that have completed at least 60% of their academic program.
The overall objectives of the project are to: organize capacity building and training programs for beekeepers, project partners and community members; construct a processing plant for the production of honey derived goods; significantly increase the number of nectar generating plants through plantings; promote products within new international markets; and strengthen local Dominican organizations as well as the their Haitian counterparts.
