Special Program and Presentation Planned with Livingstone College

InteRDom is excited to announce the Summer 2011 debut of a special 4-week Spanish Immersion Program in Santo Domingo developed in conjunction with Livingstone College.  Team representatives will travel to the College in Salisbury, North Carolina on Wednesday, March 30th to present the program in front of the entire student body at a school-wide assembly.

The initiative is a continuation of InteRDom’s partnership with North Carolina’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), which seeks to encourage global exposure amongst their students.  Livingstone College is one of the eleven schools in the Study Abroad/Global Engagement (SAGE) Consortium with whom InteRDom is working to develop special programming.

At the school-wide assembly on March 30, InteRDom representatives will be the keynote speakers charged with enriching the students’ academic experience with cultural, social, political, economic, leadership, and religious information.  They will discuss the highlights and benefits of the Spanish Immersion program and reasons why travel abroad and acquisition of a second language is an important component of modern employability.  Afterward, an informative question and answer session will be held for students interested in learning more about the 4-week summer program.

This visit to Livingstone College will be the second of what InteRDom hopes will be many more trips, as InteRDom is committed to supporting the internationalization of HBCU partner campuses.

The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
