InteRDom Forms a New Relationship with Lehigh University New York, February 3, 2011
On Thursday, February 3rd InteRDom visited Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to meet with faculty and administrators and give a presentation to interested students on the semester programs and career advancement opportunities available to them through the InteRDom program.
The visit was InteRDom’s first trip to the university, but not the first to the area. In the spring of 2010, InteRDom visited the campus of Lafayette University, which is located just a few miles from Lehigh, with which it has a very close relationship. InteRDom has also hosted a number of Lafayette students on the program.
InteRDom representatives met with Lehigh Study Abroad staff to discuss the collaboration between the office and the InteRDom program before showing a video and giving a presentation to interested students.
InteRDom hopes to continue its relationship with Lehigh University in the future by hosting both students and faculty in regular and special programs in the Dominican Republic. The Lehigh Study Abroad office currently sends about hundreds of students abroad annually, but very few go to the Caribbean region. InteRDom hopes to be able to fill this need for students, faculty and research interested in the culture and development of the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean as a whole.
The internship program, InteRDom, an initiative of Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (GFDD) and Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE), is the premier internship, research and academic study program in the Dominican Republic. It offers international students the opportunity to research important topics at the forefront of the United Nations agenda, obtain professional experience by interning with Dominican organizations and businesses related to their fields of study and/or earn academic credits by taking courses and seminars at a local university.
